Why the UNEP 1.5°C overshoot report must be an urgent call to action on climate change

As Greenpeace International explains in its policy briefing, a just transition is more than simply swapping coal, oil and gas for renewables. It is an opportunity to transform energy, transport, industrial and other systems so they are more secure and affordable, reduce inequality, protect ecosystems and shift power from elites and multi-billion-dollar corporations to people.

The UK government’s contentious ban on Palestine Action under anti-terror laws has been ruled unlawful in a landmark legal victory for civil liberties campaigners. The High Court in London ruled on Friday that ministers acted unlawfully when they proscribed the direct action network as a terrorist organisation last year alongside groups including al-Qaeda and Hizbollah. The decision threatens to throw hundreds of criminal prosecutions against Palestine Action supporters into disarray and is a major defeat for Sir Keir Starmer’s government.

EarthlyGuy on Instagram: "bulgaria’s government has fallen after weeks of protests against corruption and oligarchic rule. this is not just politics... it’s a symptom of a global sickness. the same systems that funnel wealth to the few starve communities and burn the planet. fossil fuels, rigged markets, and stolen public money are all part of the same machine. climate breakdown and social injustice are not separate crises. they are two sides of the same power grab. real change begins when people refuse to accept a rigged system, when outrage turns into collective action, and when ordinary lives are connected to the structures that shape them. this is how movements are born, messy and human, and how we fight for a world that is fair and livable for everyone."
